($48) Bright ruby-red. Pungent dark berry, cherry skin and anise scents are lifted by peppery spices and a zesty mineral quality. Intense blackberry and bitter cherry flavors slowly gain sweetness in the glass and pick up a sexy floral pastille nuance. This very youthful wine unwinds nicely with air and finishes with a jolt of peppery spices, gentle sweetness and slow-building tannins.

($60) Vivid ruby-red. Sexy, high-pitched aromas of black raspberry, potpourri and Asian spices show very good clarity and a touch of musky underbrush. Silky and focused on entry, then heftier in the middle, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and a suggestion of candied rose. The spicy quality comes back strong on the gently tannic finish, which lingers with excellent tenacity and appealing sweetness.

($48) Bright ruby-red. Expansive, spice-accented dark berry, cherry compote and floral pastille aromas and flavors show very good energy and a hint of smokiness. Smooth, seamless and deep, but nicely leavened by gentle acidity and a late jolt of white pepper that adds cut. Generous but energetic pinot with strong finishing punch and length and gentle tannins.

($38) Deep red. Ripe cherry, dark berries and cola on the deeply scented nose. Pliant and spicy, offering good tension and bit to the peppery blackberry and bitter cherry flavors. More lithe and nervy than the majority of 2012s, with a zesty kick of acidity adding lift to the taut, mineral-tinged finish.

($75) Brilliant ruby-red. Heady, complex bouquet combines red berry preserves, incense, rose oil and Asian spices, with a zesty mineral quality adding vivacity. Stains the palate with intense raspberry and cherry liqueur flavors that deepen and gain sweetness with air. Packs a serious punch but shows surprising vivacity too. Sexy spicecake and floral pastille qualities build on the long, penetrating finish, which is framed by smooth, velvety tannins.

Bright red. Intense red berry and Asian spice scents are complemented by deeper notes of anise and cola. Smoky, penetrating raspberry and bitter cherry flavors are braced by tangy acidity and pick up a floral pastille quality with air. Finishes lively and long, with silky tannins adding grip.

Offers an array of red fruit and floral scents, complicated by deeper licorice and earth qualities and a hint of smoky Indian spices. Sappy, energetic and precise, offering excellent clarity to its black raspberry and floral pastille flavors. Closes silky and very long, with lingering spiciness and a hint of dusty minerals. This elegant but powerful pinot checks in at 12.8% alcohol.

Light, bright red. Vibrant redcurrant and strawberry aromas show very good clarity and pick up a spicy nuance with air. Brisk, mineral-accented red fruit flavors are braced by zesty minerality. Finishes tangy and quite long, with resonating allspice and floral qualities. This elegant pinot shows well now but it possesses the depth and balance to age over the medium term.

2010 Winderlea Estate Reserve Pinot noir (Dundee Hills)

Bright ruby-red. Intense red fruit and floral aromas are complemented by notes of cola and anise. Juicy and taut on entry, then fleshier in the mid-palate, offering bitter cherry and black raspberry flavors and a hint of vanilla. Finishes sweet and long, with good energy and lingering spiciness. This vineyard, which was planted in 1974, was formerly known as Goldchmidt and has been the source of many topnotch wines for other producers over the years.
