v. 2011 an·thol·o·gy club

As a member of the an·thol·o·gy club, you are receiving a selection of our 2011 Pinot noirs. These works of art debut as our 6th release of the an·thol·o·gy club and, as always, features wines chosen from our library after 10 years of cellaring. With limited membership availability, this is our most select club and we are thankful to have you as a part of it.

When I think back to the 2011 vintage, what always comes immediately to mind is picking in November! November? Yes, November. That was a first and a last. 2011 was a vintage of records and extremes as the coolest and latest ever in Oregon.

Some considered the 2011s a bit lean upon release. We found them textured, elegant and nuanced. As we’ve tasted them across the decade, they’ve taken on weight, complexity and persistency. Our recent tasting at 10 years of age found them positively captivating and exactly the kind of wines we love to drink as the days get a little cooler and we seek wines with greater texture, layers and character. Donna Morris, Proprietor

Weber Vineyard Pinot noir

2011 Winderlea ANA Vineyard Pinot noir

2011 Winderlea ANA Vineyard Pinot noir

We have been working with the Ana vineyard since our first vintage in 2006. Now known as Weber, the wines from this site have been beloved for over ten years.

Red fruit remains the dominant characteristic of the 2011 Ana. In addition to cranberry and strawberry we continue to find a wonderful spice that reminds us of flame-kissed maple oak and notes of allspice. Hints of its original cherry, fig and violet are present and tantalize. Drinking well now.

Pinot noir

2011 Winderlea Vineyard Pinot noir

Our estate vineyard, originally planted in 1974, is comprised of 16 planted acres of Pinot noir.  Our flagship wine, Winderlea Vineyard Pinot noir, exemplifies what this stunning site is all about.

The nose continues to show the orange, rose hips, and some honeysuckle noted upon release.  Dominating the palate is now dried strawberry, dried mulberry, and rose hips. Underneath there are hints of earth, leather and tobacco that beautifully align with the fruit and herb notes. There is still great vitality in this wine. Our original notes said cellar through 2023.  Upon our current tasting, we believe that is true. It’s drinking just beautifully now and should for years to come.

2011 Winderlea Legacy Pinot noir

2011 Winderlea Legacy Pinot noir

Our estate vineyard in the Dundee Hills is comprised of 13 different blocks planted across 16 acres.  The Legacy, our most precious wine, is an exclusive selection of own-rooted Pinot noir sourced from vines planted between 1974 and 1976.

Black cherry, cassis, and cherry cordial waft from the glass to the nose and on entry. Those warm fruit notes are followed by earth, tobacco, cocoa and leather into a powerful and somewhat plush finish. Drinking beautifully now and as original notes indicated will cellar through 2023 (and beyond).
