I love looking at our vineyard in Winter.  Because Winter is rainy, our cover crop is green and growing.  It took me a while to get used to seeing grass this time of year but in the midst of my 13th Oregon Winter I think I’ve finally adjusted.  I like the contrast of the starkness of the vines against the lushness of the vineyard floor.  I’m attracted to the patterns of the vine rows across the undulating green hills.  If you ever get the chance, go to the bottom of a vineyard after the leaves have fallen and look uphill.  There is something rhythmic about the pattern, at least to me.  It brings my mind back to the rhythm of the vineyard throughout the year and its quietness allows me to imagine how the vintage will unfold.- Bill Sweat, Proprietor
