Meredith Mitchell Vineyard
Like the best investment portfolios, we believe it is important to diversify and to source fruit from more than one AVA. As we ventured outside of our home in the Dundee Hills and our immediate neighbor Yamhill-Carlton, there were a couple of vineyards that always held particular appeal to us. The first was the very fine Meredith Mitchell Vineyard in McMinnville. Owned by Susan Meredith and her husband Frank Mitchell, this vineyard southwest of the city of McMinnville was planted in 1988 and has expanded to 25 acres over the years. Rated one of the top 5 vineyards in Oregon for good reason, the combination of own-rooted, mature vines and shallow, rocky, broken basalt and sedimentary soil consistently produces intense fruit with complex layers of aroma, flavor and structure. These characteristics are showcased by several leading Willamette Valley winemakers and their Meredith Mitchell single vineyard designated, ultra-premium wines.
Having been managed by Frank and Susan for many years, Winderlea and Results Partners have taken over the management of the vineyard with a long term lease on the property beginning with the 2014 vintage. With this acquisition, we are now producing a beautiful Pinot blanc off of the property in addition to the very popular eponymous Pinot noir. In 2016, we harvested our first estate Chardonnay from a block of Pinot gris that was grafted over in 2015. The Meredith Mitchell Vineyard has been farmed Biodynamic® since we began managing it in 2014 and earned Demeter Biodynamic® Certification in 2018. Frank and Susan are still active participants in the property and keep a close eye on the comings and going around the site. We are thrilled about all the possibilities and potential of this vineyard and could not be happier to call it our newest Estate property.
