As I write this I am sitting in my living room with the sun shining on my face while my field of vision is of blue skies over ribbons of fog in the valley.  Closer in, the last yellow and orange grape leaves are hanging on in the vineyard.  The last ten days or so have been stellar, cold overnight giving way to sun and temperatures in the mid-60’s by afternoon.  Harvest in 2019 was more typical for Oregon than the mostly warm and dry weather experienced in the past handful of years.  This vintage we reverted back to cooler temperatures accompanied by rain.  While logistically challenging, the wines are showing elegance and complexity accompanied by low alcohol; a trifecta in my book.  So, while it is not true, I am enjoying this beautiful weather all the more as if it were the reward for the cold and wet and mud of harvest.- Bill Sweat, Proprietor
