Maresh Vineyard (Dundee Hills AVA)
I’ve mentioned before that Winderlea – our estate vineyard – sits on the Red Hills bench where Oregon established its reputation as a world class Pinot noir producer. One of the vineyards that helped establish that reputation was none other than the Maresh Vineyard, our next- door neighbor and the 5th oldest vineyard in all of Oregon. Jim, and his beloved wife Loie, bought their property in 1959 and farmed it as a peach, prune and cherry orchard until 1970 when pioneer and next door neighbor, Dick Erath, convinced him to plant wine grapes. The rest is history – and now Winderlea will be a part of that history as we start making wine from the Maresh Vineyard in 2010.
